History

Ferndale Table Tennis club was first established as a TTk Greenhouse academy in 2007. The academy was overseen by Welsh International player Stephen Gertsen he was at the academy for 3 and a half years and had great success during his time here. Then ex-Scottish Junior International player Scott Johnston who was assistant coach at old TTk school Tonypandy and had previously helped Stephen with his coaching duties at Ferndale took over. Scott was in the position for a year. Scott moved on but the club has again managed to get a new coach who is going to continue to allow the club to grow. Gwyn Carvill from Bridgend TT club has now taken over at the school and will hopefully use his knowledge of the game and links within welsh table tennis to help the club go from strength to strength.

Training Camp in Sheffield

The weekend of 14th and 15th of January saw Chris Griffiths travel up to Sheffield with Ryan Oyler and Lewis Williams to train with some of the BTTF Olympic squad. This is a fantastic opportunity for Chris to see how professional players conduct themselves on a daily basis. Chris was accompanied by Ryan Jenkins national coach and hopefully Chris will have learnt a lot from the weekend that he can bring back to Ferndale.

Junior 6 Nations Selection

Chris Griffiths has been selected to represent Wales at the Junior 6 Nations event on the 9th-11th of March. Chris will compete in the Junior team event along side Alex Prosser of Tonypandy and then play in the under 15 event for the singles. Well done Chris and good luck.

Cadet County

Last weekend Chris Griffiths represented Glamorgan county in the premier county division. Chris had a fantastic weekend pulling off some fantastic results and playing to a consistent high level for the whole weekend. If Chris keeps up these performances he will become a Welsh regular. Chris was in a team with:
Ryan Oyler
Callum Evans
Jac Jenkins
Soffi Jenkins
Caitlin Williams
