History

Ferndale Table Tennis club was first established as a TTk Greenhouse academy in 2007. The academy was overseen by Welsh International player Stephen Gertsen he was at the academy for 3 and a half years and had great success during his time here. Then ex-Scottish Junior International player Scott Johnston who was assistant coach at old TTk school Tonypandy and had previously helped Stephen with his coaching duties at Ferndale took over. Scott was in the position for a year. Scott moved on but the club has again managed to get a new coach who is going to continue to allow the club to grow. Gwyn Carvill from Bridgend TT club has now taken over at the school and will hopefully use his knowledge of the game and links within welsh table tennis to help the club go from strength to strength.

Tipton Bribar Grand Prix

Chris Griffiths had a fantastic result at day one of the Tipton GP. Chris managed to finish runner-up in the Band 5 event. This is an excellent achievement as Grand Prix events are senior events that draw very large entries from all over the UK and in some occasions abroad.
Chris was runner-up in his group but then competed very well to beat Ryan Fellows and Ryan Lines in his quarters and semi's matches. In the final Chris started very strong to take the 1st set against Jessie Kendrick-Hill but sadly he could not keep it going and he lost out 3-1. Well done Chris.

Gwyn Starts New Role

The final week of term saw Gwyn Carvill finally start coaching at Ferndale. Gwyn will be at the school on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Gwyn is hoping to continue to build on past success but also keep bringing through new players that will continue to keep Ferndale a force in Welsh Table Tennis. Good Luck Gwyn.
