Ferndale were represented by two players last weekend at the JBL, Chris Griffiths and Liam Winder. Chris was a member of the Wales team that won gold in division 2B. Chris was joined in the team by Connor Edwards, Alex Prosser and Ryan Oyler. Well done to Chris and the boys for winning the division.
Liam Winder played for Ael-Y-Bryn in division 4A where the team finished second in the division. Liam had some excellent performances and played very well.
Congratulations must be given to the Welsh girls team of Charlotte Carey, Nicole Hall, Angharad Phillips and Megan Phillips. The girls won the Premier Division and this makes them the British Champions. That is a fantastic result for Wales. Well Done to all the players from Wales at the weekend.
History
Ferndale Table Tennis club was first established as a TTk Greenhouse academy in 2007. The academy was overseen by Welsh International player Stephen Gertsen he was at the academy for 3 and a half years and had great success during his time here. Then ex-Scottish Junior International player Scott Johnston who was assistant coach at old TTk school Tonypandy and had previously helped Stephen with his coaching duties at Ferndale took over. Scott was in the position for a year. Scott moved on but the club has again managed to get a new coach who is going to continue to allow the club to grow. Gwyn Carvill from Bridgend TT club has now taken over at the school and will hopefully use his knowledge of the game and links within welsh table tennis to help the club go from strength to strength.
