History

Ferndale Table Tennis club was first established as a TTk Greenhouse academy in 2007. The academy was overseen by Welsh International player Stephen Gertsen he was at the academy for 3 and a half years and had great success during his time here. Then ex-Scottish Junior International player Scott Johnston who was assistant coach at old TTk school Tonypandy and had previously helped Stephen with his coaching duties at Ferndale took over. Scott was in the position for a year. Scott moved on but the club has again managed to get a new coach who is going to continue to allow the club to grow. Gwyn Carvill from Bridgend TT club has now taken over at the school and will hopefully use his knowledge of the game and links within welsh table tennis to help the club go from strength to strength.

Junior 6 Nations Isle Of Man Report

Day 1 - team Event - Chris and Alex play against Scotland and Ireland in the Junior team event. Sadly the boys could not win in either match but they both played very well to take their opponents close.

Day 2 - Team Event - This was the final day of the team event, with Chris and Alex finishing 4th in the team event. This was an excellent effort by both boys and was a very good result showing great maturity and topping teams that were expected to do much better than them.

Day 3 - Singles - Chris was once again put in the Under 18 age group for the event. This was always going to prove to be very difficult for him. Even though Chris was in this older age group he performed very well but sadly could not make it in to the main event of the singles. Chris went in to the consolation event and played very well to get a silver medal. Chris lost out in the final to a very experienced player in Scotland's Blair Fowler.

Overall Chris played fantastic over the whole weekend and competed very well in the older age group. He was very unlucky not to play in the Under 15 event in both the singles and team. If he had been given that opportunity I feel that he could of been coming home with some medal's.
